ELEKTRICA is a new American singer-songwriter artist on the STBN Records label.The Early Years

Elektrica showed musical promise from the age of three, learning to sing and playing many musical instruments, eventually focusing on the piano. By the age of sixteen she was the leader of a youth musical theater, working as director, composer, choreographer and designer. Her passion however was, and remains, to sing, and she eventually graduated Music College as a trained mezzo-soprano. She then turned from a promising career in opera and expanded into popular music, incorporating techno, pop and rock into her repertoire.

The next few years Elektrica spent exploring the world, immersing herself in different arts and cultures, meeting people, learning languages and developing as a songwriter and a musician.

The Present

The Elektrica project began in earnest in 2009 in the heart of Manhattan. This exciting new phenomenon incorporates a global network of contributing musicians, creating theatrical and evocative soundscapes that defy genre and style, led by Elektrica’s unique creativity and personality.

Born in Martinsburg, W.va./ Grew up playing Bluegrass, Country, Jazz, Blues, Rock, and Fusion.Majored in music at Shepherd College for two years before transferring to Elon College. Has performed in a number of popular variety bands spanning the East Coast over the past 27 years while living in North Carolina. Joseph Taylor aka Mr. October, born October 31,1982 in Atlanta, Ga. Raised in Decatur, Joseph Taylor found out what the definition of unity and team work is. After graduating from Decatur High, Joseph decided to take the road less traveled and join the army. Joseph has always been a fan of all music genres especially rap. During Basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, Joseph met Vincent Bryant, and begin free styling with him to pass the time. After finding out that they both will be stationed together they decided to form a group. Stationed at Fort Stewart, Joseph was working extremely hard on perfecting his craft when he got called to duty for OIF 1. The deployment to iraq change Joseph’s views on life and really pushed him to make music a priority. In Iraq he found future mentor/friend Nate “DNG” Huntington. Nate showed Joseph the basics on how to construct a verse, different rhyme patterens and how to also create beats. After a 4 year duty, Joseph returned to Atlanta ready to show and prove. He dropped I am decatur, with hits like “Let em Lay” and “Go Left” made him and instant hood star. Joseph performed at local clubs in the Atlanta area. A truly gifted songwriter, performer and recording artist, Aaron Hendra is also an owner of LA based indie Give Records. He met entrepreneur Rick St George in 2008 and created Give. In an era where major label development is almost nonexistent, Give provides opportunities and time for an artist to find their musical identity.OCTOBERSONG is the debut release for both Aaron and Give and was sculpted over a 3 year period at Give Studios in LA. An opportunity like this is a dream come true for any artist but did not come easily for Aaron. Rather it is a result of over a decade of persistence through ups, downs and near misses that would cause most aspiring musicians to pack up and head home.
Early success for the Aussie born songwriter came when he hand delivered a simple piano/vocal demo to the record company office of Aussie recording superstar John Farnham. Several weeks later Aaron received a personal phone call from Farnham, stating that he loved the song and wanted to record it. “Don’t Let It End” became a single on Farnham’s multi-platinum CD “Romeo’s Heart”. Sheryl Crow and Dianne Warren also pitched songs for this album.

In 2001, a recording contract with Hollywood records helped Aaron and his band gain access to the United States and opportunities to live abroad and grow as a songwriter. Producer problems left the group unable to deliver a cohesive record however and a year after signing the deal, the label dropped the young band from its roster. A period of seven years passed where Aaron continued to pay dues. This included two further letdowns, a development deal with Warner Bros that ended when the supporting A & R person lost their job, and then, making it all the way through auditions to the top 50 finalists for the 1st season of Rockstar with INXS only to miss final selection for the show. Major label deals and Reality TV at that point were not the destined paths. 2005 thru 2008 consisted of days on the construction site and nights playing small acoustic shows and writing songs. This only served to fuel the flame.

Near the end of 2008 the gift of a second chance at a recording career arrived. Aaron met Rick St George, a finance guy who saw the untapped talent and believed in his music immediately. The entrepreneur struck a deal with the songwriter and Give Records was born. Once again able to focus fully on writing and recording, Aaron began to assemble a team. Long time friend and session drummer Greg ‘Gigi’ Gonaway joined forces with Aaron and moved to LA in 2009 to begin pre-production. St George, thinking this was more than a solo artist but not quite a band, dubbed it the ‘Aaron Hendra Project’. Work began under the AHP moniker. Not wanting the pressure of the usual ticking clock of commercial studios, St George decided to search for a unique space as a new home for Give family. He soon found a secluded compound only a block from the famous Sunset Strip in Beverly Hills. Not only was the space perfect for album, it also had a rich musical heritage.

Built in the 70%u2032s by the late Richard Colburn (Founder of the Colburn School of Music in LA) to entertain LA socialites, the house featured a ballroom designed for chamber orchestras. Classical violinists such as Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Mar and Isaac Stern we’re regular guests back in the day. St George, Aaron, Gigi and sound engineer Dave Ahlert went to work turning the library into a control room and the production began. Producer Rob Hill the team in 2010 and once tracking was complete the team took the songs to South Beach Studios in Miami Beach, Florida where renowned mix engineer Tom Lord-Alge added his magic and finessed them to completion.
During recording, Sam Childers AKA the “Machine Gun Preacher” visited Give Studios and asked Aaron to write a song about his mission to save the children of Sudan. The result was “One Man’s War”. AHP then traveled to Sudan to record the 300 children now living at the orphanage sing the end choruses of the song. Touching and inspiring listeners all over the globe, it has become the official spiritual anthem of the Machine Gun Preacher.

The yet to be released new album from AHP, called OCTOBERSONG, features 11 tracks from the artist. With definite mainstream appeal, the music and songs of Aaron Hendra are poised to make an impact on a broad audience ranging from high school aged youngsters to mature adults. With a message, voice and sound that is fresh yet authentic and heartfelt, this adult contemporary artist is destined for the world stage.

‘OCTOBERSONG’ is the (yet to be released) debut release by Australian born recording artist Aaron Hendra. It is the culmination of 10 years of writing while living and honing his craft in the unforgiving musical landscape of Los Angeles. Not only are all songs featured on the album 100% written by Aaron, he also produced them with Rob Hill. Recording took place over 2 years at a private mansion only a block from Sunset and Doheny in Beverly Hills. Vintage Neve and API consoles we’re installed in the control room specifically for the record. All songs were engineering by Dave Ahlert. After tracking and overdubs Aaron took the songs to South Beach studios in Miami to be mixed by world renowned mixing engineer Tom Lord-Alge. The recordings also feature the drumming talents of Greg ‘Gigi’ Gonaway (ex Mariah Carey) who is a key member of the Aaron Hendra Project. Bass players on the record included Paul Bushnell (Faith Hill, Daughtry, Shakira), Marcus Brown (Madonna, Seal) and Dorian Heartsong. Piano and keyboard players included Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters, Wallflowers), Jamie Mahoberac (Goo Goo Dolls, Chris Cornell, All American Rejects) and again Marcus Brown. Country music may be running through Jason Link’s veins, but when you first meet this modern-edged performer down on Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee, it’s hard to tell he was raised on a 900-acre tobacco farm that goes back four generations. In fact, you may think he was more of a new generation country-rocker with hair falling conspicuously into a spiky form of bedhead sexiness and a lean physique sporting an array of rumpled designer duds, including a cowboy hat that he modified himself by spray painting and scuffing up into its own innovative texture.But regardless of his urban-esque appeal, this real world ‘country boy’ from Freeman, Virginia, can belt out a tune with just enough twang that would be best described as George Strait meets Hank Williams, Jr. with a serving of Kenny Chesney on the side. And that doesn’t even cover the fact that he’s an extraordinary guitar player. He is among the few that play lead guitar currently driving the country music scene. Only two other players come to mind when thinking of Jason and that’s Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.

However, Link is well aware that possessing the talent to have mastered the guitar and banjo is not all it takes for him to make his dreams a reality%u2026it’s about having great songs. No problem there. Jason also happens to be a seasoned songwriter, with the ability to construct memorable melodies paired with story-driven lyrics and just the right amount of modern flare to appeal to a country radio audience. It all started at the age of five%u2026playing the drums at his grandfather’s dance hall, Club 301, while also appearing on his grandfather’s radio station, 580 AM WLES, in Lawrenceville, Virginia, under the nickname “Scoot Scoot”. At age 16, he began to play guitar and write his own songs which led to countless shows at local bars and other venues with his uncle Marty, who was influential in teaching Jason his unique style of hybrid country lead guitar. Eager to explore music from all genres, Jason was influenced, both vocally and in his guitar playing, by artists ranging from Hank Williams, Sr. to Jimi Hendrix to the Beatles. When Jason was nineteen, he landed a gig as the lead singer in a house band he formed with his uncle. His great dedication to music was truly apparent during this time, as he drove one hundred miles each way, playing over 270 shows a year for five years. It was during this period of his life that Jason began to develop his unique musical style with the help of vocal coach Janet Kenyon, who has worked with artists such as Taylor Swift and Josh Turner.

Dr. Dan Ivankovich aka The Right Reverend, Doctor D

Dan Ivankovich is unique. Born in Croatia, a Chicago resident since the age of three, this fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon and spine specialist has an alter ego, “The Right Reverend, Doctor D”, Chicago blues veteran with an imposing 7-foot frame. He’s destined to become a legend, if he isn’t one already.

Ivankovich understands what it’s like to be the underdog. Taunted by his third grade classmates for his unpronounceable last name and violin, he was head and shoulders above them all in more ways than one.

Due to his academic prowess, he skipped several grades, but his parents, (Anthony and Olga), both physicians, kept young Daniel’s school progress under close watch and prevented him from being a high-school graduate at the tender age of fourteen. They knew he needed time to mature, to catch up with his imposing physical stature.

Achieving All-State and All-American honors as a hoops baller and shot-caller, Ivankovich was one of the most highly recruited players in the States. With over 500 scholarship offers, he decided to play for Northwestern University while working towards his BSM/MD in the prestigious Honors Program In Medical Education. Then . . . disaster. A horrific knee injury ended his dreams of playing for the NBA and the Yugoslavian Olympic team.

With newfound time on his hands, he listened to his heart and turned to music for inspiration, transitioning from classical violinist to fire-breathing blues guitarist. Within months, he was playing on-stage with some of his musical heroes. Ivankovich went right to the source of the blues on Chicago’s South Side. He jammed, performed, and recorded with Chicago legends, Eddie Taylor, Homesick James, Snooky Pryor, Lefty Dizz, Johnny Dollar, Hubert Sumlin, James Cotton, Dion Payton, Magic Slim, Junior Wells, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy. Including a stint as bandleader for legendary bluesman, Otis Rush.

At the Checkerboard Lounge on 43rd Street, he befriended and made a lifelong connection with players that he would eventually tap for the Chicago Blues All-Stars. Names like “Killer” Ray Allison, Jerry “Bam-Bam” Porter, Johnny B. Gayden and Roosevelt “Mad-Hatter” Purifoy.
While a student at Northwestern, WNUR-FM, one of America’s premier non-commercial stations broadcasting from the University, took note. While trying to find the classroom for “Intro to Geography”, he took a wrong turn. It turned out to be all too right, bringing him to the door of the WNUR on-air studios. The music director lamented that the Blues Show needed a host or faced cancellation. Fate dropped that opportunity right in his lap.

The name, Daniel Ivankovich, didn’t have the right ring for Chicago blues, so he created the on-air personality, The Right Reverend, Doctor D. “Out Of The Blue” became the premiere Chicago blues program and was syndicated in over sixty markets. This led to on-air stints at commercial outlets WCKG-FM in Chicago and WQHT-FM in New York. He worked as producer and program developer for MJI Broadcasting in New York.

With success, came offers to don a “suit” and become an executive. Not for him. Ivankovich stayed true to his rebel heart. Those corporate offers weren’t tempting, but were exactly the wake-up call he needed. It was time to get back to basics, back to fulfill his mission as a healer . . . and to the source of his inspiration and strength in Chicago’s inner-city neighborhoods.

While an intern and resident, putting in 120+ hour weeks at Cook County Hospital, Ivankovich had the chance to change the status quo, work with the poor on the front-lines and see how healthcare, insurance companies and the government short-changed them. Where was the justification for five-year waiting lists for simple procedures that would improve functionality to allow a person live life to the fullest? Ivankovich started the Chicago Musculoskeletal Initiative (ChiMSI) . . . to make health care for the poor a basic human right.

He attended top post-grad fellowships, programs at RUSH (Adult Joint Reconstruction), Northwestern (Adult Spine Trauma) & Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (Spinal Cord Injury). Ivankovich established orthopedic outreach and patient education programs at virtually all of Chicago’s safety-net hospitals. He raised almost $1,000,000 in committed grants and services to grow clinics and provide staffing.
Dan Ivankovich could be clearing a cushy salary treating sports injuries and backaches. He could have a stream of well-to-do patients in a plush suburban office during the week and kick back on Sundays. Instead, he chooses to hustle at the inner city and underserved hospitals. He’s seen over a hundred thousand patients, performed over a five thousand surgeries in communities that never had this type of service . . . ever: pediatrics, trauma, joint reconstruction and spine surgery. He treats the needy, provides specialty care for degenerated joints, broken bones, gunshot wounds, for victims and victimizers alike, the underserved of the ghetto.

He strides into hospital lobbies in a sweet black leather cowboy hat and goatee. He understands the pain his patients suffer, having personally undergone thirteen knee surgeries himself. Because of this, a unique ride was necessary for comfort as well as street credibility while navigating the rough & tumble streets of the ‘hood’.

During his residency, he drove a 1968 Pontiac Bonneville military ambulance, but he’s upgraded to a fine set of wheels as his daily ride, a souped-up 2008 black Jeep Cherokee SRT with 22″ rims. Then there’s the “Bone Mobile”, a righteous jet-black 2007 Dodge Magnum SRT street-rod with 550 horsepower, the envy of every adult male on the South & West sides. With extra legroom, Lamborghini & suicide doors, 24″ DUB rims, under-car neon lights and a 2000-watt amplifier with plasma displays, it’s the BOMB ! !

Dan Ivankovich is a well-known public figure. In March 2010 he was featured on the American Spirit segment in Katie Couric’s CBS evening news in addition to numerous segments in both print and broadcast media.

After the devastating earthquake in January 2010, he traveled to Haiti on his own expense to treat the countless victims pulled from the rubble, taking special interest in the spinal cord injured patients he found laying in makeshift tents. Through a series of miracles and moxie, he cut through mountains of red tape and personally escorted two such patients, Bazelais Suy and Josette Delisca, back to the States for top-notch care, a feat that was covered by newscasts all over the country and will soon be documented in an international story by the Associated Press.

Shortly after his return from Haiti, Dan was honored by the National Social Workers Association as the 2010 Public Citizen of the Year. He was invited to give the commencement speech at his alma mater, Glenbrook South High School, where he spoke about the value of bucking the status quo, thinking for oneself, and paying forward one’s good fortune. He was also voted 2010 Alumnus of the Year by his Fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, Rho Chapter, at Northwestern University.

Several documentaries are currently in the works chronicling his life story and humanitarian missions. He is co-writing an inspiring memoir, along with his newfound Haitian brother, Bazelais Suy, recounting the events before, during, and after the catastrophic quake. Perhaps most entertaining of all, stay tuned for the graphic novel, The Rev. Doctor D and his sharp-tongued sidekick, Harmonia. This will be the perfect medium for Dan Ivankovich to act out his darkest dreams in the guise of the Byronic antihero that dwells in his soul.

“KILLER” RAY ALLISON (GUITAR/VOCALS): First broke into the blues during the early 1970%u2032s. Now a regular on the Chicago Blues scene for over four decades, “Killer” Ray has been an integral tour-de-force in bands by Muddy Waters, James Cotton, Koko Taylor, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells. With a reputation as the hardest hitting drummer in the blues world, “Killer” has turned down gig offers from Eric Clapton, John Mayall & the late Gary Moore, so he could fully focus his energies toward leading a band. In 1998 and 2000, Ray was nominated for the W. C. Handy award as an instrumentalist.

SCOTT DIRKS (HARMONICA/VOCALS): Award winning blues historian, instrumentalist & producer. Scott authored “Blues With A Feeling-The Little Walter Story” and produced Lurrie Bell’s breakthrough “Mercurial Son” for Delmark Records. A walking compendium of Chicago Blues history and lore, Dirks is an accomplished harp player whose minimalist approach keeps alive the memory of Sonny Boy, Little Walter & Big Walter.

DEITRA FARR (VOCALS): Deitra Farr is considered one of Chicago ‘s top vocalists, according to Living Blues Magazine (May 1997). Fiery, energetic, she has been nominated for Traditional Female Blues artist of the year by the W.C. Handy Awards, Female Blues Artist of the year by the Living Blues Critics Awards, the British Blues Connection Awards, and the Les Trophees France Blues awards. Deitra is also a published writer, poet, songwriter, and painter, who has written articles for the Chicago Defender, Chicago Blues Annual, and currently she has a column “Artist to Artist” in Living Blues Magazine.

JOHNNY B. GAYDEN (BASS/VOCALS): Johnny B’s music career as Chicago’s first-call bass player, is one that most musicians can only dream about. He recorded nine CDs and numerous DVDs with Albert Collins. The band won a Grammy Award for the Alligator recording “SHOWDOWN” with Albert Collins, Johnny Copeland and Robert Cray. After Albert’s death in 1993, Johnny focused on session work, and his career tally is close to 100 recordings. Johnny is a nine-time W.C. Handy nominee for the Instrumentalist-Bass category. He has been honored to record with Johnny Winter, Gary Moore, John Primer, Son Seals, A.C. Reed, Junior Wells and KoKo Taylor, just to name a few.

DR. DAN “D-ROCK” IVANKOVICH (GUITAR/VOCALS): is a Chicago Music veteran of imposing stature. He cut his teeth as a bluesman at the tender age of 18, as the musical director for legendary bluesman Otis Rush. After spending nearly a decade touring with a who’s who of the blues, he’s shared the stage with legends that include: Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray & Jimmie Vaughan, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells.
